Where is it?
MorroMico is in the Chocó department, on the Pacific coast of Colombia. Specifically, it is located on the Gulf of Tribugá, north of the town of Nuquí.
What is it like?
Located in an area of moist, tropical rainforest and beaches of volcanic sand, el Chocó is considered to be one of the areas of greatest biodiversity on the planet. It enjoys unrivaled natural resources, including one of the most diverse ecosystems of flora and fauna on earth. The region boasts more than six hundred different species of birds, and the underwater fauna is more varied and abundant than that of the Atlantic.
The water is plentiful and fresh, flowing from deep inside the rainforest through rivers, ravines, pools, and waterfalls out to the sea.
At the mouth of the river you will find small Negra communities of fishermen, and further inland, live the Emberá people.
Morromico has a natural harbor, and its beach extends for more than a thousand meters, along which you will find five fresh-water ravines. In addition, MorroMico boasts the most impressive waterfalls, sandy beaches, rainforest, and sea that you could hope to find.
Climate
The region has a seasonal climate, with the sunniest and driest months from January to May. |
